A multi-million-dollar gift from David Frederick (A&S ’83, HON ’18) and his wife, Sophia Lynn, will provide transformational opportunities at the newly named David C. Frederick Honors College at the University of Pittsburgh.

State Lawmakers Vote to Fund Pitt

Late last week, Gov. Tom Wolf signed an appropriation bill that will help fund the in-state tuition rate for Pennsylvania students for the 2022-23 academic year. This development is due in part to advocacy and strong support from alumni and the Pitt community, including more than 37,000 phone calls and emails to lawmakers.

Student Loan Forgiveness Opportunity

The federal government’s Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program presents a limited-time opportunity to cancel student loan debt after 10 years of public service for those working in public schools, higher education, government, and nonprofit institutions.

Up until October 31, 2022, borrowers can receive credit for past periods of repayment on loans that would otherwise not qualify. This includes loan types and payment plans not previously eligible. New Dean for the School of Pharmacy

Pitt alumna Amy Lynn Seybert (PHARM ’94, ’96G) is now leading the School of Pharmacy. Seybert has served as chair of Pitt’s Department of Pharmacy and Therapeutics for the past 12 years. She succeeds Patricia Kroboth (PHARM ’80G, ’83 PHD), who led the school for two decades.
