Pitt Alumnae Council
The University of Pittsburgh Alumnae Council as a constituent of the University of Pittsburgh Alumni Association exists to serve the University in its pursuit of excellence. The Alumnae Council provides programs, supports tradition, and promotes activities for Pitt women.
Latern Night is the oldest tradition at the University of Pittsburgh, and every year volunteers from the Alumnae Council help make it happen. Every July the council meets to assemble the lanterns, and then on the Night itself they help prepare for the event and pass on the "Light of Learning" to the incoming class.
The Alumnae Council also awards a scholarship to a sophomore each year. This scholarship is renewable for the winner's junior and senior years.
