The Pitt Alumni Association has been awarding scholarships to students for over 20 years. Our stringent scholarship process ensures that the University can recruit and retain the best and brightest students, thereby enhancing the prestige of the University and every Pitt degree.

Legacy and Graduate Scholarships

Andrew J. Kuzneski, Jr. Recognition Scholarship

$9,000

Renewable for Four Years.

This scholarship was named after Andrew J. Kuzneski in honor of his dedication and hard work in helping to advance the Pitt Alumni Association scholarship endowments.

Who Should Apply 
Awarded to an incoming freshman legacy student whose grandparent, parent or sibling is a Pitt alumnus.

Hilda M. Willis Freshman Legacy Scholarship

$5,000

Renewable for four years.

Awarded to an incoming freshman legacy student whose grandparent, parent or sibling is a Pitt alumnus.

Who Should Apply
Incoming students that meet scholarship eligibility criteria as designated by the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid (OAFA) will automatically be sent applications for this award.

Graduate Scholarship

$5,000

This is a one-time award.

Awarded to an incoming or currently enrolled Pitt graduate student who also received his/her undergraduate degree from Pitt.

Who Should Apply
Students interested in applying should ask about the application in the dean’s office of their school in late December.

Matching Scholarship Program (Pitt Clubs)

Pitt Clubs Scholarship

Varies

The award is matched in years two, three, and four.

This program was developed with the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid (OAFA). Regionally based club and affinity councils fund the entire scholarship the first year. In subsequent years the alumni association and OAFA match the original award (up to $2,000).

Who Should Apply
The incoming students that meet scholarship eligibility criteria as designated by the OAFA will automatically be sent applications from the club/council for these awards.

 

Managed Endowed Scholarships

Dr. Alexander and Frances Minno Graduate Student Resource Fund

Varies

Graduate Student who also received their undergraduate from PITT.

This scholarship was established by Dr. and Mrs. Alexander Minno this award has been designated to provide financial support to a graduate student enrolled in any school at the University.  Awarded to an incoming or currently enrolled Pitt graduate student who also received his/her undergraduate degree from Pitt.

Who Should Apply Students interested in applying should ask about the application in the dean’s office of their school in late December.

Tom Ablauf Memorial Scholarship

Varies

This is a one-time award.

Established by the family of Tom Ablauf and the PAA.

Who Should Apply  This scholarship is awarded each year to a student with 24 or more completed credits and proven involvement in one or more of the following areas: Greek Social Organizations, Neuroscience, Omicron Delta Kappa National Honor Society, or Blue & Gold Society.

Applications are distributed in January and are awarded each year.

Anita J. Angus Endowed Alumni Association Athletic Scholarship

Varies

This is a one-time award.

Established through a bequest, this scholarship is awarded each year to a Pitt student who is a Pennsylvania resident and a participant in intercollegiate athletics with a particular emphasis on football, basketball or crew.

Who Should Apply   Student must be a Pennsylvania resident and a participant in intercollegiate athletics with a particular emphasis on football, basketball or crew.

Robert I. "CUBBY" Bearer Endowed Scholarship

Varies

This is a one-time award.

Established by the family of Mr. Bearer, this award has been designated for a Pitt student who is a resident of Western PA and has attained the merit of Eagle Scout and who has demonstrated financial need.

Applications are available in January in the Pitt Alumni Association office and the award is posted for the following Fall semester.

Cecile M. Springer Endowed Scholarship

$1,000

This is a one-time award.

Established by Cecile M. Springer, past president of the Pitt Alumni Association. It is a one time award given to an undergraduate student and is a needs-based award. It is used to promote the University's commitment toward diversity.

Dr. Donald M. Henderson Endowed Scholarship

This is a one-time award.

Established by alumni and friends in honor of Dr. Donald Henderson, to be awarded to an African American student for tuition based on need.
