  2. Is the directory secure?

There are multiple technological as well as human processes in place to ensure the privacy of alumni data. All alumni data are physically secured at a vendor-managed facility with high-level security allowing only authorized staff access. There are also protocols in place to prevent the database from being "mined" for lists of consumer data.

Network security is achieved with firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and distinct layers built into the database software. This includes "circuit-breaker" software that provides notification of or prohibits suspicious behavior. Outside security consultants are employed to conduct periodic "attacks" on the network to test the system against the latest security threats.
