Daisy Loney (A&S ‘02)

What has your life been like since graduating from the University of Pittsburgh?

I am a 2002 graduate with a degree in Theater Arts and a certificate in Film Studies. Upon graduating, I continued my involvement with The Sprocket Guild, which is a student-run film/TV production organization that my friend Greg Allen and I started at Pitt. I gained a lot of behind-the-scenes film experience working on projects with The Sprocket Guild, and met a lot of contacts in the film/TV industry. I also pursued my career as an actress while auditioning and landing commercial roles with the Talent Group Agency and Nancy Mosser Casting. During the summer of graduation, my church, the Greater Pittsburgh Church of Christ, sponsored me to be an intern with HOPE Worldwide’s HOPE Youth Corps (HYC). Not only did I have the opportunity to work with the under-privileged and youth in the inner cities of Philadelphia and Washington DC, but I also had the privilege to serve at Cato Manor, an HIV community and school in Durban, South Africa; and an also at the HOPE clinic and an orphanage in Kingston, Jamaica. Upon returning to Pittsburgh, I landed a job as Videotape Librarian/Shoot Production Coordinator at New Perspective Productions, which also gave me valuable experience in the industry.

In 2003, I decided to move to Virginia Beach for a change in scenery. I worked as an actress and as a crew member for New Dominion Productions, a studio that shoots TV shows for the Discovery Channel. I also worked with D.I.A advertising agency, and also began working as a Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultant. While in Virginia, I met the man of my dreams, James Loney, and we got married in February of 2005.

What are you doing now?

A few months after we got married, James’ job relocated us to Atlanta, Georgia, which is where we currently live. James and I also have a great time serving with the Greater Atlanta Church of Christ, which we are proud to say is our family away from home. Here in Atlanta, I have had the chance to work at the Fabulous Fox Theatre, which is the most beautiful venue I have ever set foot in. I am continuing my film/TV career doing various commercials and other projects. I have done extra and stand-in work for major movies recently filmed here, such as We are Marshall, Daddy’s Little Girls, One Missed Call, and Stomp the Yard. These movies are scheduled to be released within the next few months, so keep a look out! I also maintain a website, www.daisyjade.com, which showcases my life and current projects. At the moment, I work as an assistant to Tyler Perry at his new studio - where there is never a dull moment. I feel like I am living life to the full, and am grateful for all of the blessings I have been given so far. Yet I look forward to what is yet to come!
