Disability Law and Policy : Including the Voices of Disabled People in the International Development Agenda - Teplitz Courtroom, Barco Law Building
Judith E. Heumann was appointed as the World Bank's first Advisor on Disability and Development in June 2002. She is an internationally recognized expert one disability and diversity issues who has travelled widely among the countries of the
world. Heumann leads the bank's disability work that integrates the needs of people with disabilities in the Bank's discussions with client countries, its country-based analytical work and support for policies, programs and projects to improve economic and social life around the globe. Heumann, a lifetime human rights advocate, has been the recipient of many awards including two honorary doctorates and the first Henry B. Betts Award.

Alzheimer’s Research: Looking at the Living Brain - Connolly Ballroom, Alumni Hall
- A new diagnostic tool known as PIB, or Pittsburgh Compound B, could potentially improve diagnoses and potential treatments by enabling doctors to actually see manifestations of Alzheimer’s Disease in the brains of living patients. Presented by PIB co-inventors: William Klunk, MD, PhD, Pitt associate professor of psychiatry, and Chet Mathis, PhD, Pitt professor of radiology. Click the link below to watch the presentation.

Healthy Kids: Physical Activity and Obesity Prevention in Our Schools Today - Connolly Ballroom, Alumni Hall
The Signature Series lecture featured School of Education faculty members John Jakicic and Deborah Aaron. Special guest for the evening was Lynn Swann, representing the President's Council for Physical Fitness and Sport.
