 Search Produces First “iFellows” in New Doctoral Fellowship Program Funded by Mellon Foundation

The University of Pittsburgh’s School of Information Sciences (iSchool) has named the first two iFellows under the new doctoral fellowship program for information science students -- Timothy Schultz, PhD student at Drexel University's iSchool, and Wei Jeng, PhD student at the University of Pittsburgh’s iSchool. These distinguished doctoral students were selected as the first iFellows from a competitive pool of applicants. Students from each of the 55 iSchools with membership in the international iSchools consortium were invited to submit proposals in the spring of 2014. Read more.


2015 Bernadette Callery Archives Lecture Series, May 29

Join the iSchool as we host the 2015 Bernadette Callery Archives Lecture Series on May 29, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. in the IS Building, Third Floor (135 N. Bellefield Avenue). Richard J. Cox, Professor, and Amelia Acker, Assistant Professor, will lead “Charting the Future of Archives and Archival Work: A Panel Discussion.” Panelists include Anne Van Camp, Director of the Smithsonian Institution Archives; Dr. Robert Riter, Assistant Professor, University of Alabama School of Library and Information Studies; and Deidre Scaggs, Associate Dean, Special Collections Research Center and Director of the Wendell H. Call for Nominations: Alumni Awards

The iSchool is seeking nominations for the 2015 Distinguished Alumni Award, Professional Achievement Award, and Young Alumni Award. These awards recognize iSchool alumni for their contributions to the University of Pittsburgh, the iSchool, the associated professions, and society. Award recipients will be recognized at the 2015 Alumni Awards Ceremony on October 9. Learn more or submit a nomination.


iSchool Creates LinkedIn University Page and Adds Subgroups by Program to LinkedIn Group

The School of Information Sciences recently created a LinkedIn University page to supplement our closed iSchool discussion group. We hope that you will take a moment to update your education on your profile from the “University of Pittsburgh,” to the “University of Pittsburgh - School of Information Sciences.” By doing so, you will become affiliated with our page, be able to quickly connect with other alumni from your own profile, and you’ll be helping us to create an interactive snapshot of where our alums live and work!


Save the Date: 2015 Alumni Awards

Each year, the iSchool recognizes the achievements of outstanding alumni at the Alumni Awards Ceremony.  The event will take place on Friday, October 9 from 6 p.m.  to 7:30 p.m. in the Information Sciences Building. Details will follow in the coming months.
