iSchool Welcomes Amelia Acker to Faculty

The University of Pittsburgh’s School of Information Sciences (iSchool) is pleased to welcome Assistant Professor Amelia Acker to the faculty. Dr. Acker joins us from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) where she received her PhD in Information Studies in 2014.  Dr. Acker will teach courses on archives, records management, and digital preservation in the Library and Information Science program.  Read more about Dr. Acker.

Join the iSchool at the 2014 Alumni Awards Ceremony, October 24

Each year, the iSchool recognizes the achievements of outstanding alumni. On Friday, October 24, we'll be honoring Debra D. King (MSIS ‘85), Douglas C. Sicker, PhD (MST ‘92, PhD ‘01), and Yang Xu, PhD (PhD '07) at the annual Alumni Awards Ceremony. The ceremony will take in the iSchool Student Collaboration Center on the third floor of the Information Sciences Building (135 N. Bellefield Avenue) from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm.  Learn more about the recipients, view event details, and RSVP here.

Alumni Reception in Lancaster, September 28

The iSchool will host an alumni reception, at the Pennsylvania Library Association (PaLA) Annual Conference.  The event will take place on Sunday, September 28 from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm in the Walnut Room at the Lancaster Marriott at Penn Square (25 South Queen Street, Lancaster, PA 17603).  RSVP to mbc20@pitt.edu.

iSchool Social Hour, September 5

Join us on Friday, September 5 for the first iSchool Social Hour of the 2014-2015 academic year!  Alumni are invited to socialize with students, faculty, and staff from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm in the iSchool Student Collaboration Space, IS Building, third floor.  RSVP to Marci Carothers.

Participate in the “Alumni Profiles” Project

The iSchool has launched its “Alumni Profiles” project, which will highlight alumni accomplishments and current employment information on the School’s website.  For more information about this project or to read about iSchool alumni, view Alumni Profiles. Young Alumni Profile: Lindsay Mattock (PhD ’14)

The School of Information Sciences (iSchool) is proud to share the news of iSchool alumna Dr. Lindsay Mattock’s (PhD‘14) new position at the University of Iowa. Lindsay will begin her appointment as tenure track Assistant Professor in the School of Library and Information Science in August 2014. At the University of Iowa, Lindsay will teach a course on “Archives and Media” for the newly-created Digital Humanities certificate program.  Read more about Lindsay.
