Reminder from the Center for Continuing Dental Education:

PA license renewal deadline is March 31, 2015

Act 31 Compliance

All Pennsylvania dentists and hygienists are required to complete at least 2 hours of training in child abuse recognition and reporting for March 31, 2015 re-licensure. This training must be approved by the PA Department of Human Services and Department of State to meet mandated reporting (Act 31) license requirements.

There is a free online training course that meets these requirements and is approved for 3 continuing education credits. All training data will be submitted directly to the PA Department of State for licensure, but you should maintain confirmation of completion for your records.
This course can be accessed at:   https://www.reportabusepa.pitt.edu

Other approved options for meeting this requirement can be found on the PA Department of State website.

T.F. Bowser Continuing Education Lecture– March 21, 2015

The 21st Annual T.F. Bowser Memorial Lecture by Dr. David Meinz – “Diet and Dentistry in the 21st Century” will be held in Scaife Hall, lecture rooms 5 & 6, from 8:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. Dr. Meinz shares the latest information on what you need to know about the oral and systemic health connection, sugar substitutes, vitamin supplements, and the future potential role of dental professionals in total patient care. You will learn about the best and worst foods for teeth, how to increase your personal energy, and much more.

Dental Alumni Association Annual Business Meeting – March 21, 2015

We invite all alumni to please join us for the Annual Business Meeting immediately following the Bowser Lecture in lecture rooms 5 & 6 Scaife Hall.

Fifteenth Annual Dean's Scholarship Ball – Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens - April 11, 2015

Thank you for your continued support to raise scholarship funding. This event not only raises funds to support the Dean’s Scholarship recipients, it also helps to support over 100 dental student scholarships. If you are unable to attend the Scholarship Ball, please consider a donation to the Dean’s Scholarship Fund.

A highlight of the event is the recognition of the 2015 Distinguished Alumni honorees:

Pennsylvania’s Dental Meeting & Expo – Pitt Dental Alumni Reception, Friday, April 24, 2015

All alumni and friends are invited to the Pitt Dental Alumni reception during Pennsylvania’s Dental Meeting & Expo on Friday, April 24 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at The Hotel Hershey.

Homecoming 2015 – October 9 & 10

The University of Pittsburgh Homecoming 2015 events will take place the week of October 5, culminating with the homecoming football game against Virginia on October 10. The School of Dental Medicine will host a reception on Friday, October 9 and have reserved the University Club for reunion dinners. It is not too early to start planning for class reunion dinners for class years ending in 5 and 0.
