For 30 years, Shekar Narasimhan (MBA '75) has used his business background to mitigate the effects of brutal poverty in Appalachia and his native India. Now he is serving on the President's Advisory Commission on Asian American and Pacific Islanders.

Katz MBA Fastest-Rising Program in U.S. News & World Report rankings
Since 2012, the full-time MBA program at the University of Pittsburgh's Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business has climbed higher than any school in the annual rankings conducted by U.S. News & World Report. The program is ranked No. 52 overall in the U.S., up from its No. 85 position in 2012.

National Deloitte Fellowship Awarded to PhD Student
Michele Frank, a doctoral student studying accounting, is the recipient of a $25,000 fellowship from the Deloitte Foundation, one of only 10 people nationally to receive the award. She is the third Katz PhD student to receive the fellowship since 2010.

Study Finds That When Opposites Attract, Self-Control Crumbles
New research shows that when opposites attract in a relationship, the bad habits of the individual with low self-control wear off on his or her partner — not the other way around. This has big implications for marketers who target couples with their products.

Shopper Marketing Study On Unplanned Purchases Wins Prestigious Marketing Prize
Faculty member Jeff Inman is a recipient of the 2014 MSI/H. Paul Root Prize for his research that mapped out a shopper's path through the grocery store. The work found that for every 55 feet traveled, people spend another dollar in impulsive buys.
