Pitt✦Stops at the Carnegie Free Library & Music Hall: April 19

Join the Pitt Alumni Association on Thursday, April 19 for the fourth installment of our monthly Pitt✦Stops series. The April event, “Conflict and Compromise: the Correspondence between Pittsburgh Steel Titans Andrew Carnegie and Henry Clay Frick,” will be held at the Carnegie Free Library & Music Hall in Carnegie. Learn about the Frick Collection, which contains the correspondence between these legendary industrialists, including letters and telegrams pertaining to the famous Homestead Strike.

University breaks ground on Heinz Memorial Chapel Garden

Ground was broken this month on an English-style garden adjacent to the Heinz Memorial Chapel complete with paths, a fountain, and benches. The project will be completed in July in time for the Chapel’s 80th anniversary.

This ceremony is designed to celebrate the traditions and ceremonial importance of the University of Pittsburgh class ring for students and their friends and family. Pitt Students, Alumni Awarded 2018 NSF Fellowships

Eleven University of Pittsburgh students and four alumni were awarded a 2018 National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship. The NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program is designed to ensure the vitality and diversity of the scientific and engineering workforce in the United States. The program recognizes and supports outstanding students in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics disciplines who are pursuing research-based master’s and doctoral degrees.

Lawrence Feick Named Interim President of Pitt-Titusville and Pitt-Bradford Campuses

The University of Pittsburgh has named Lawrence Feick as interim president of its campuses in Bradford and Titusville. Currently Pitt’s vice provost for special projects, Feick has served as provost liaison to all four of Pitt’s regional campuses.

Adjusted Ticket Pricing Structure for Men’s Basketball

The University of Pittsburgh will restructure ticket pricing at the Petersen Events Center for the 2018-19 season following a multi-year study of college basketball ticket pricing and attendance across the NCAA. The resulting changes to the membership fee and ticket cost will create reduced pricing in nearly every location of the Petersen Events Center.
