The scholarships listed below are named for the donor who established them or in honor or memory of a proud Pitt alumnus.

DR. ALEXANDER AND FRANCES MINNO GRADUATE STUDENT RESOURCE FUND
This award was established through a generous gift from Dr. Alexander Minno (A&S ’43, MED ’47) and his wife Frances Minno and is awarded to an incoming or currently enrolled Pitt graduate student who also received his/her undergraduate degree from Pitt.
Students interested in applying should ask about the application in the dean’s office of their school in late December.
TOM ABLAUF MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Established in memory of Tom Ablauf by his family and the Pitt Alumni Association.
This scholarship is awarded each year to a student with 24 or more completed credits and proven involvement in one or more of the following areas: greek social organizations, neuroscience, Omicron Delta Kappa National Honor Society, or Blue & Gold Society.
Applications are distributed in January and are awarded each year.
ANITA J. ANGUS ENDOWED ALUMNI ASSOCIATION ATHLETIC SCHOLARSHIP
Established through a generous bequest from Anita J. Angus (A&S ‘56), this scholarship is awarded each year to a Pitt student who is a Pennsylvania resident and a participant in intercollegiate athletics with a particular emphasis on football, basketball, or crew.
ROBERT I. "CUBBY" BEARER ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP
Established by the family of Robert I. “Cubby” Bearer (KATZ ’34), this award has been designated for a Pitt student who is a resident of Western PA and has attained the merit of Eagle Scout and who has demonstrated financial need.
Applications are available in January in the Pitt Alumni Association office and the award is posted for the following fall semester.
DAVID A. LOWER AND MAUREEN R. MCBRIDE FRESHMAN SCHOLARSHIP AND STUDENT INITIATIVE ENDOWED FUND
Established by David A. Lower and Maureen R. McBride, this award has been designated to an incoming scholarship eligible student from the Metropolitan Pittsburgh area who demonstrates financial need.
The incoming student that meets the criteria will automatically be sent an application from the alumni association.
DR. DONALD M. HENDERSON ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP
Established by alumni and friends in honor of Dr. Donald Henderson (A&S ’67), to be awarded to an African American student for tuition based on need.
CECILE M. SPRINGER ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP
Established by Cecile M. Springer (GSPIA ’71), past president of the Pitt Alumni Association. It is a one-time award given to an undergraduate student and is a needs-based award. It is used to promote the University's commitment toward diversity.
