Alumni Legislative Network volunteers serve as valuable advocates in the Pitt Advocacy Network and are committed to informing elected officials about the accomplishments and needs of the University of Pittsburgh. As both an alumnus and voter, your message is both personal and very powerful and it needs to be heard. It has never been easier to join the ALN and help your University!
Purpose
- Ensure that the University of Pittsburgh and public higher education is a budgetary and policy
priority in the
Commonwealth of Pennsylvania - Voice Pitt's position on select legislation relevant to the University
- Raise awareness about the importance of higher education for Pennsylvania's future
- Spread the word about the contributions and accomplishments of the University of Pittsburgh
Participation
ALN members advocate for the University and public higher education issues through a variety of means and at a level of activity that is comfortable to them.
- Writing letters
- Visiting legislators in their district offices
- Calling legislators
- Speaking on behalf of the University
- Sending letters to the Editor
- Attending events

Partnership
All ALN activities are organized in cooperation with the Governmental Relations office to ensure accuracy and timeliness. Action Alerts, briefings and issue-specific correspondence to our members provide information on relevant issues and guidance on the most effective ways to communicate with legislators.
