Alumni Legislative Network volunteers serve as valuable advocates to inform elected officials about the accomplishments and needs of the University of Pittsburgh and higher education across the state. As both an alumnus and voter, your message is very powerful and needs to be heard. It's easy to join the ALN and help your University move into the 21st century.
Purpose
- Ensure that higher education is among the top budgetary and policy
priorities in the
Commonwealth of Pennsylvania - Voice Pitt's position on select legislation relevant to the University
- Raise awareness about the importance of higher education for Pennsylvania's future
- Spread the word about the contributions and accomplishments of the University of Pittsburgh
Participation
ALN members advocate for the University and higher education issues through a variety of means and at a level of activity that is comfortable to them.
- Letter writing
- Visits to legislators/other officials
- Speaking on behalf of the University
- Letters to the Editor
- Attending events
- Calling in to radio shows

Partnership
ALN activities are organized in cooperation with the Governmental Relations office to ensure accuracy and timeliness. Action Alerts, Commonwealth Connections, briefings and issue-specific letters to our members provide information on relevant issues and guidance on the most effective ways to communicate with your legislators.
